Guessing distance is the most common reason for a missed or poorly placed shot. Even a basic rangefinder removes that guesswork. The 1500R is a no-frills unit for hunters who mainly need fast, reliable readings inside typical archery and woodland rifle distances. Full manufacturer specifications for this model are being confirmed with our supplier; email us if you need a specific figure before ordering.

Who is the 1500R for?
New hunters, bowhunters and anyone who wants a budget rangefinder.
How do you get accurate readings with the Cabela’s 1500R?
Brace your hands against a tree, a shooting stick or your binocular harness, put the aiming reticle on the animal’s shoulder rather than its outline, and hold the button in scan mode for a second so you can watch the reading settle. In brush, use last-target mode so twigs in front of the animal are ignored. In open country, first-target or best mode picks the closest solid object. Cold drains lithium batteries quickly, so carry a spare CR2 or CR123 in an inside pocket from November on. Finally, range a few known landmarks from your stand before the hunt and write them down: if a deer steps out, you already know the distance.
What should you look for in a sub-$100 rangefinder?
Clear optics, a minimum range of 10 yards or less for archery, and angle compensation if you hunt from a tree stand. If angle compensation is essential, compare the Vortex Triumph HD 850.
