Who is the KILO3K for?
Hunters who want SIG’s ballistic features without the size or price of the KILO5K, including bowhunters who also hunt with a rifle.
Is the KILO3K good for bowhunting?
Yes. It is light, fast and its angle-modified range covers archery distances; the red OLED is easy to read in timber at first light.
KILO3K vs KILO5K
The KILO5K doubles the deer range, adds Applied Ballistics Ultralite with holdover readouts and 7x optics, for twice the price.
How do you get accurate readings with the SIG SAUER KILO3K 6×22?
Brace your hands against a tree, a shooting stick or your binocular harness, put the aiming reticle on the animal’s shoulder rather than its outline, and hold the button in scan mode for a second so you can watch the reading settle. In brush, use last-target mode so twigs in front of the animal are ignored. In open country, first-target or best mode picks the closest solid object. Cold drains lithium batteries quickly, so carry a spare CR2 or CR123 in an inside pocket from November on. Finally, range a few known landmarks from your stand before the hunt and write them down: if a deer steps out, you already know the distance.
